Bobbie Irwin
Section: 10-4-NW4

Cost: $299 ($279 member )$20 discount for registration by Aug 1st!
Friday & Saturday, 9:30 - 4:30
Sunday, 1 -5:30

This is a 3 - day twined rag rug workshop with nationally known fiber artist, instructor and author, Bobby Irwin, from Montrose, Colorado.    Bobbie’s latest book, which was released September 2009, is Twist and Twine. This once-popular technique makes extremely durable and beautiful rugs using fabric for both warp and weft. Twining on a simple frame produces an astonishing variety of patterns not found in most other rag rugs. Help preserve this vanishing folk art while mastering twining techniques that can also be applied to other materials.  All levels are welcome!  Price includes small frame to work on, plus warp for 1st project; students will provide their own fabric and basic sewing materials. This is a good way to RECYCLE fabric!
This workshop is sponsored, in part by the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area, with funds from the Maryland Heritage Area Authority, an instrumentality of the State of Maryland.  We are also partnering with the Historical Society of Frederick County.
