Young artists will “fling” their own sets of dinnerware, “pinch” pots, “drape” bowls and “model” creatures, real and imaginary.  Returning students will learn new techniques of working with clay to keep their imaginations engaged.  Fee includes firing and all supplies

Fire up your imagination! Through various handbuilding techniques, young artists will build beautiful boxes, whip up whistles, coil chalices, pull Paleolithic creatures out of clay and more.  Returning students are always welcomed.

Young artists can select a project and learn how to create their masterpieces.  Students will develop skills in sawing, drilling and shaping while learning the proper techniques for gluing, sanding and finishing their projects.  Build a battleship, an airplane or a tank.  Make a box, a stool or a walking stick.  Choose from over thirty projects.  Safety procedures will be emphasized.  Class size is limited to 7, so register early.

Creative Escapades

Many possibilities in art will be explored in this introductory class for young artists.  Drawing, painting and many other challenges will be presented to enhance the concepts of design and creative imagery, while keeping young artists focused on the joy of artistic expression.  Necessary basics such as color theory, perspective, line, form and composition will also be covered

Perspective, color, proportion, and form, the basic building blocks of drawing and painting, are taught through intriguing and creative projects.  Young artists will explore many different ways to use pencil, pastel and paint to express themselves. Both individual and group instruction will be offered, and personal exploration will be encouraged.

Teens at the Wheel

Cost:  $150 ($130 member)
This is an eight-week class for the teen who wants to learn or develop skills on the potter’s wheel.   Wedging, centering and throwing on the wheel will be covered as well as basic hand-building techniques to embellish the student’s pieces.
