Beginning Jewelry I

Description: Learn the fundamentals of jewelry fabrication and metal-smithing to create a forged cuff or form folded bracelet, fold formed or hammered earrings, and a chain necklace. Techniques such as piercing, drilling, sawing, stamping, annealing, and simple soldering will be covered. Geared for the absolute beginner, this class will emphasize safety, tool mastery, and skill development while supporting students through the completion of original jewelry pieces. REQUIRED: Signed studio waiver, safety glasse, earplugs, ventilated respirator (3M #8515 recommended). Students enrolled in jewelry classes must be 17 or older. Bring the following SUPPLIES: 6x12” 18-gauge copper sheet; 6x6" 20-gauge copper sheet; 20 ft of 14-gauge copper wire; 24" 20-gauge sterling silver wire. NOTE: Required safety items and metal supplies are available for purchase at the Delaplaine.
